(Council Bluffs) Drivers traveling Highway 44 in Portsmouth can expect a slower trip to work on April 3. Construction is scheduled to start on a bridge replacement project, and a detour using Highway 191 and Shelby County roads F-32 and M-16 will be in place.
The project is scheduled for completion on July 28, weather permitting.
The DOT reminds motorists to help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive cautiously, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
