Marjorie LuAnn (Sorensen) Christensen passed from this life into her next on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Marjorie “Marge”, daughter of Carl and Erna (Jacobsen) Sorensen was born at her home in Hamlin on January 29, 1940. Marge was baptized and confirmed at the Hamlin Lutheran Church. She attended the Hamlin #2 Country School and later continued her education at the Audubon Community School.
Marge was united in marriage to Herbert A. Christensen on June 1, 1956 at the Hamlin Lutheran Church. Three children were born to this union, Teresa LuAnn, Brad Herbert and Thomas Dean.
Marge worked with her mother at the Hamlin Grocery Store. She also helped Herb at Herb’s Mobil in Hamlin. Marge was loved by the residents at the Friendship Home in Audubon where she worked in housekeeping for several years until she retired.
Herb passed away on August 14, 1989. Marge continued to live in their home for the remainder of her life.
Marge enjoyed a good cup of coffee, good conversation and a good card game. One of her greatest loves was crocheting afghan blankets for her loved ones and many hot pads that she gave as gifts over the years.
Marge will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb; her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Marty Olson; her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Evelyn Christensen; her brothers and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Sorensen, Richard Sorensen; her sister, Donna Sheley; her brothers-in-law, Darrell Munch and Darrall Christensen; and sister-in-law, Lynette Christensen.
Those left to cherish her memory: Special Friend, Jim Ellefson; her sons Brad (Kelley) Christensen and Tom (Teresa) Christensen; sister, Marilyn Munch; and brothers-in-law, Gerry “Sonny” Christensen and Donnie (Brenda) Briggs; sisters-in-law, Carol Sorensen and Joyce Christensen; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Marge’s family appreciates all of the many expressions of sympathy and concern. Her wishes were to have a private family service, but the family would like to invite friends to join them for a Celebration of Life Gathering to be held at the Exira Event Center on Friday, March 17th from 4:00-7:00 pm.
The family is requesting no flowers or gifts, only your presence at the Celebration of Life gathering to share a memory, a story or a hug.
