(Audubon) The Audubon County Courthouse will tentatively be closed March 23rd-24th and April 6th-7th for asbestos removal.
A meeting with the contractor for the new HVAC system revealed the need to close the courthouse for four days. “Monday we had another meeting where we met with four asbestos contractors for asbestos removal which is going to be a necessity in order to do the HVAC System. Two ceilings on both ends of the courthouse plus a number of smaller areas within the courthouse are going to need asbestos removal in order to install the system.”
Supervisor’s Chairman Doug Sorensen admits there will be some inconvenience in the midst of these projects. “It’s just something we are going to have to go through because they had to get this done. All of these contractors agreed if we don’t get this done before June it’s going to be really hard to find an asbestos contractor. Where they go after schools get out is they go to school projects. So they wanted to get us done before school lets out.”
Sorensen recommends calling in advance to make sure things will be open if you plan to go to the courthouse between May and October. A drop box for tax payments will be available on the days the courthouse is closed.
