(Des Moines) A winter storm is poised to impact southwest Iowa tonight into Thursday.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for southwest Iowa from 9:00 p.m. this evening to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday for all southwest counties south of Interstate 80. Moderate to heavy snow amounts of four to seven inches are forecast, along with strong winds producing areas of blowing snow. Some of the heaviest snow will fall during the morning commute on Thursday. Be prepared for slick roads and areas of poor visibility. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
Harrison, Shelby, Audubon, and Guthrie Counties are under a Winter Storm Advisory.
