(Atlantic) Wyatt Adderton, Atlantic’s new Parks and Recreation Director, introduced himself to the Atlantic City Council Wednesday evening.
Adderton comes from Savannah, Georgia. He worked with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources for almost eight years and worked his way up from being a part time maintenance ranger all the way up to Assistant Park Manager.
The Parks and Recreation Department began the search for a new Director after Bryant Rasmussen announced his resignation in October to take a job with the Department of Agriculture Soil and Water Conservation District in Mills County.
The Council approved resetting the salary for the Parks and Recreation Director for Fiscal Year July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023. It was negotiated with the new Parks and Recreation Director regarding the waiver of enrolling in the City’s health insurance plan. The Director has agreed to remain on their spouse’s insurance, which will cost them $2,700 a year. This resolution is taking the salary that the Council set for the Parks & Recreation Director last March and adds $2,700 to that amount. The Parks Director Compensation is $67,960.
In other news, the City Council approved a street closure permit for 4th Street from Chestnut to Walnut Streets for SHIFT ATL’s Summer Soiree Summer Fundraiser on July 15th. The closure will be in place from 7:00 a.m. to Midnight.
The Council also approved an order to close 6th Street between Poplar Street to Chestnut Street every Thursday evening from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. beginning June 1st through October 15th for Produce in the Park.
The Council then approved the appointment of Tim Cappel to the Board of Adjustment.
