(Atlantic) Austin Farmer, Project Director for Retail Coach, appeared via zoom at Wednesday’s Atlantic City Council meeting and provided an update on business recruitment. Farmer says the firm is focusing on four areas. One is national and regional retail recruitment prospects to the Atlantic market.
Farmer says 30 of the 60 prospects have shown interest in available sites.
Farmer says there is some short term potential, but it all comes down to site availability, which appears to be the most significant roadblock in recruiting a prospective business. Additionally, six of the 30 interested prospects see the market potential but need a franchisee.
This is the first four-part series on Retail Coaches’ business recruitment for the City of Atlantic. We will report on the three other focus areas: progress with the downtown retail prospects, developer recruitment, and franchise recruitment businesses.
The City Council hired the business recruiting firm to identify retail opportunities within the city, recruit retailers, coach the community, help fill gaps, and ultimately act as an extension to the current staff, particularly how it relates to Retail. The firm is beginning its second year with the city.
