(Oakland) The Riverside girls wrestling team competed Saturday at the Joel Rios Girls Invitational hosted by Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, KS. The Lady Dawgs placed 3rd out of 11 teams with 135 points.
Molly Allen stayed undefeated on the season with her championship at 120 pounds. Allen pinned her way through the field. Another champ for Riverside was Carly Henderson at 125 pounds. Henderson posted four pins on the day. Veronica Schechinger recorded three pins and placed 2nd at 115. Danika Feigenbutz posted three pins and a major decision to place 2nd at 130. Markely Yanes added a 2nd place finish. Jayden Carrigan and Kia Meek each placed 3rd.
On Friday night the Lady Dawgs were at Faucett, MO for the Mid-Buchanan Girls Invitational. They tied for 9th out of 47 teams with 37 points.
Molly Allen had four pins to win the 120 pound weight class. Carly Henderson’s runner-up finish at 125 pounds included two wins by fall. Jayden Carrigan, Chloe Roane, Khloie Corum, and Markely Yanes were all 4th.
