(Glenwood) Four players scored double figures to lead Glenwood over Atlantic 70-53 on Friday night at Atlantic.
Risto Lappala led the Rams with 18 points, Caden Johnson added 16, Logyn Eckheart knocked down 13, and Caden Johnson finished the night with 11.
The Trojans kept the contest close in the first half controlling the inside game. Jackson McLaren and Glenwood’s post-player Logyn Eckheart battled inside. McLaren’s presence was huge, with 11 first-half points, and Eckheart was equally effective on the boards. The North Dakota football commit scored six of his thirteen points in the first quarter.
Glenwood’s Kayden Anderson performed similarly to Tuesday’s victory over Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson. The junior guard came off the bench, hit two three-point shots, and went three-for-three from the free-throw line to help spark the Rams offensively. Anderson scored 20 points in the opener at Thomas Jefferson.
The Rams held narrow leads of 16-13 at the end of the first quarter and 32-27 at the half. The difference in the game came in the third quarter. The Rams knocked down four three-point shots, outscoring the home team 22-12. Caden Johnson buried two of the four from behind the arc; Lappala hit one, Zac Kelsey swished the other, and the Rams began to pull away, leading 54-39 after three-quarters.
The Trojans kept it even in the final frame. Carter Pellett found his rhythm with eleven second-half points, including one basket from behind the arc. The senior ended the night with 13; Jackson McLaren, 13; Colton Rasmussen, 11; Caden Andersen, seven; Kinnick Juhl, three; Ryder Burk and Michael Hotze, two points; and Gavin McLaren added one.
The Rams extended their record to 2-0. Atlantic falls to 0-1 and hosts ADM on Saturday afternoon, with tip-off at around 4:00 p.m.
