(Anita) Curt Symonds was honored this season by the CAM football program for 40 years of service.
Symonds began keeping stats in the 1980’s and the 2021 season was his last. “I was just fortunate enough to be at a ball game one night and they were short and needed some help. I volunteered and 40 years later I look back on that and think ‘wow.'”
Symonds comments on what made him want to stay involved. “Over the year just knowing the kids that come up through the system and enjoying football games, just liking to go. Just thought it would be good to volunteer my time and go watch the kids play and help the team keepings stats.”
He thanks his wife for the support over the years. “She’s been the most understanding person about this whole thing.” Symonds says, “I’d really like to say thanks to her.”
2021 was a picture perfect way to go out with CAM winning the state title. “I watched my son come up through the Cougar football system as a player and he had success as a player and then when he got done with college he came back as a coach and having the opportunity to watch him coach a state championship football team that just kind of made me think that things went full circle.”
During CAM’s Week 8 contest against Boyer Valley, Symonds was presented with a plaque from the CAM Gridiron Club for his four decades of contributing to the program.
