The Fall Color Peak in Central Iowa Could End Early Because of the Hard Freeze

(Des Moines, IA)  —  Central Iowa is in peak fall colors this week, but.

 

Aaron Steil , Iowa State University Horticulturalist.  A hard freeze is expected in Central Iowa tonight and again Tuesday night.  Steil  says not all trees will drop their leaves, but some will.

He says Southern Iowa will not be as cold as Central Iowa overnight tonight so the fall colors may last longer.
