(Atlantic) (1-2) Atlantic squares off against (1-2) Ballard in a non-district football game at Trojan Bowl on Friday night. The Bombers and the Trojans were coming off wins last week. Ballard downed Boone 41-6; the Trojans shut out Shenandoah 26-0.
Atlantic turned the ground game up a notch last week with 259 yards rushing, led by Isaac Henson’s 20-carries for 178. Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer is pleased with how his offense ran the ball, especially in the second half.
Atlantic’s defense was equally impressive, holding the Mustangs to a minus 50-yards on the ground.
Brummer says the focus this week is to hone in on the details. The Trojans turned the ball over thrice last week and were penalized 14 times for 125 yards.
Ballard brings the solid ground game to the table. The Bombers have 437 rushing yards and an average of 4.9 yards per tote. The offense is built around Eli Rouse, who leads his team in rushing, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Coach Brummer says the Ballard coaching staff moved Rouse from quarterback to running back last week.
The Bombers have only attempted 47-passes through the first three games, completing 55 percent of the throws. Miles Mudd is 18-28 passing for 131-yards, and Rouse, before his existing Q.B. role, was 8/19 for 48 yards.
Atlantic quarterback Caden Andersen is off to a great start with 634 yards passing, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.
