(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojan football team squares off against Glenwood in a week 1 contest at Glenwood on Friday night. The Rams have won four straight against the Trojans.
The Trojans won three games last season with a young group cutting teeth after playing in the shadows of a senior-laden and playoff-qualifying team in 2020. This year’s squad has 22 seniors on the roster.
Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer said depth when asked what impressed him most about his squad during preseason camp.
Coach Brummer notes this is a tight-knit group of players. He says if one guy makes a mistake, the rest of the group is there to pick them up.
Coach Brummer says defensively in practice and last week’s scrimmage that the defense looks good. The players seem to understand their roles, know where to be, and now must translate that into speed.
The Trojans have a big test in front of them at Glenwood on Friday night. Coach Brummer says they are fast, experienced, and no what they are doing. Brummer is impressed with Glenwood’s passing attack.
The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. Tom Robinson, Perry Fief, and Kevin Ferguson will be on the call. We will have the broadcast on 95.7 F.M. and video-streamed on westerniowatoday.com.
