Former Tama County Jail Employee Charged With Sexual Misconduct With Prisoner

(Toledo, IA)  —  A former Tama County Jail employee is accused of having sexual contact with a prisoner in a utility closet.

Kayla Bergom is charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with an offender.  The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says it happened on multiple occasions between September 2020 and April 2021.  The D-C-I completed its work on the case in March.

The accusation of sexual misconduct had been made by another Tama County employee.
