Joan (Huffstodt) Reed, age 93, of Atlantic, formerly of Cumberland, Iowa, passed away from natural causes, Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Heritage House Pleasant Acres, with her loving family at her bed side.
Joan was born January 4, 1929, to Reed Forrest Huffstodt and Harriet “Hallie” (Antrim) Huffstodt in Atlantic Iowa. She had one older sister Betty Jane.
Joan graduated from Cumberland High School in 1946 and Simpson College in 1950. She met Arnold “Arnie” Reed at Simpson and they were married on June 4, 1950. Joan and Arnie had three children Greg (1951), Susan (1953), Kelly (1957) and raised a niece Mona Kale (1945) as a daughter.
Joan was preceded in death by her father (1932), her mother (1950), her sister Betty (1959), her husband (1982), a niece Mona (1989), and her son Greg (2020).
Joan is survived by daughter Susan (Dan) Norman, son Kelly (Rondelle) Reed, daughter in law Janet Reed, grandchildren Samantha (Dean) Dailey, Mathew McKee, Carrie (Michael) Seredyaz, Jon (Julie) Refer, Ann Anstey, Callie (Jody) McDiffett, Alison (Nathan) Maceyko, Jessica (John) Wilmes, Kelcie (Ross) Grandolph, Parker Reed, and 11 great grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Atlantic cemetery.
