(Boone, IA) — Authorities in Boone County say a construction worker was killed Friday when he was hit by an excavator.
Emergency responders were called to Pickett’s Salvage in Paton just before 11:00 a-m. Witnesses say 57-year-old Kevin Cummings was walking behind the excavator when he was hit. The operator hadn’t seen him and was turning and backing the equipment at the time.
Cummings died before he could be taken to a hospital.
