(Dubuque, IA) — An assistant Dubuque County attorney says he was placed on paid administrative leave because he is running for the office held by his supervisor.
KCRG TV reports Richard Kirkendall says the move was made in retaliation for his decision to seek the position. Kirkendall says he encountered his boss, County Attorney C-J May the Third, last Friday as he left the courtroom after a trial ended. He said May read a letter to him about an investigation into an unspecified complaint and he was walked out of the building and can’t return.
He says he doesn’t know what the complaint was.
