(Red Oak) On Monday morning, a fire at Bunge Corporation in Red Oak damaged an exterior dryer stack.
Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce says the department dispatched at 11:03 a.m. to 2049 Fernwood for a fire in the external dryer. Arriving firefighters reported fire coming out of the northeast stack and a field fire directly north of the facility. Employees evacuated the facility.
Firefighters set up aerial operations to extinguish the outside dryer stack fire and simultaneously combatted the field fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze without incident and terminated ground operations at 1:05 p.m.
Bunge staff said the exterior dryer stack could be repaired and functional again.
The Red Oak Fire Department appreciates the Bunge Corporation’s safety staff and maintenance personnel for their assistance with fire ground operations.
The Fire Department received mutual aid/assistance from the following agencies: Montgomery Co EMA, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Communications, and Red Oak City Water Department.
