(Stanton) The Stanton Child Resource Center expansion project is a “go” thanks to a one-million-dollar community-based project allocation from the Federal Government.
SCRC Director Britany Schoning, says the project is now a reality, and they get to move forward. The latest allocation brings the total raised to $1.6 million over halfway to their goal for the project. “We are halfway to our goal, and we will continue fundraising,” said Schoning. “The project is now a reality; it used to be a dream, and now we’re getting a new facility that will accommodate more childcare.”
Schoning says SCRC is licensed for 80 children; the new building will allow for 129 children or 49 more spots for families in Montgomery County and the surrounding areas. “We pull from Cass County, Pottawattamie County, and Mills County,” said Schoning. “The new building will help a lot of our surrounding communities.”
The new building will double the classrooms and allow two rooms each for infants, toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children. The new facility will also have a kitchen, break room, and ample storage for items needed to run a childcare center.
Schoning says they will continue fundraising, looking for donors, and applying for grants.
