(Fort Dodge) Former Atlantic standout Taylor McCreedy and a freshman at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, is running in the National Junior College Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday at Pittsburg, Kansas.
McCreedy is running the lead-off leg in the Distance Medley Relay on Friday. The Distance Medley is 1200, 400, 800, and the mile at the collegiate level. Additionally, McCreedy is a national qualifier in the 3,000, which she will run later in the day on Friday, and leads off the 4×800 meter relay team on Saturday.
Dee Brown, Director of Track and Field and Cross Country at Iowa Central Community College, is impressed with McCreedy’s progress considering her injuries in high school.
McCreedy’s outstanding Indoor Track Season followed a 26th place finish at the NJCAA DI Cross Country National Championships in a time of 19:18 this past fall. The Atlantic Alum was the number #2 runner on an Iowa Central team that placed 6th nationally.
This weekend, Iowa Central is currently ranked #6 nationally, heading into the National Indoor meet. Coach Brown says the goal is to make the awards stand as a team, which would mean a top-three finish.
The events start at 9:00 a.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The meet is broadcast on the National Junior College Athletic Association Network. NJCAA Network on the App Store (apple.com)
