(Atlantic) The Cass County Cattlemen and the Cass County Corn growers hosted their annual banquet on Saturday night at the Cass County Community Center.
The cattlemen presented five awards, including the Young Gun, Riding for the Brand, Business of the Year, Producer of the Year, and the 2022 Hall of Fame Award. This year’s Hall of Fame award winner is Wynn Winston.
Winston’s career in Agriculture started at a very young age helping with the family farm alongside his father and brother. In 1975, Wynn and his brother took over the farm work and the cow-calf operation while their father managed the family-owned elevator. Wynn drove a truck for the elevator on top of his chores on the farm.
Winston talks about surviving the Ebbs and flows of the Cattle Market over the years.
Winston says he’s received a lot of support from his family and neighbors along the way.
Along with all of his duties on and off the farm, Wynn and Greg Zellmer pioneered the first-ever Cass County Cattlemen’s grilling operation on a dream and a twelve-pack of beer.
