(Denison) Iowa State Patrol Trooper and District #4 Public Information Officer Shelby McCreedy released the number of traffic accidents and assists during this past weekend’s winter storm.
Trooper McCreedy says State Troopers from 5:00 a.m. on January 14 through 5:00 a.m. on January 17; Troopers covered 194 crashes; of that, 176 were property damage accidents, and 18 were personal injury crashes. “There were zero fatalities,” said McCreedy. “That is always good to come away with no fatalities during a winter storm.”
For the weekend, Trooper McCreedy says they assisted 557 motorists. McCreedy says this means these drivers were either broke down or went into the ditch. She says that because most central and western Iowa fell under a tow ban, they transported these motorists to a safe location to ride out the storm.
