(Guthrie Co.) Slick roads caused a single-vehicle accident in Guthrie County early Saturday morning.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the accident on I-80 eastbound near the 91 mile marker at 12:07 a.m. A 2004 Toyota Camry, driven by 22-year-old Mohamed Nour, of Iowa City, was traveling eastbound when Nour lost control due to adverse weather conditions. The Toyota entered the median where the rear of the vehicle spun around and struck a cable barrier on the north side. Nour was not injured. The damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,000.
The Sheriff’s Office also responded to an accident on Wagon Road Sunday afternoon. 37-year-old Tiffany Miller, of Stuart, was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition northbound when she came upon a pickup pulling a small trailer that was moving at a very slow speed. Miller went to go around the pickup and lost control due to the slushy road. The Expedition entered the west ditch and struck a small tree before making contact with the fence. The fence was separated from the posts due to contact. No injuries were reported. The damaged to the Expedition was estimated at $3,500. The damage to the fence was estimated at $500.
