(Harlan) Harlan raced out to a 17-2 first-quarter lead forcing the Trojans to play catchup the balance of the game on Monday night in a boys’ basketball game at Harlan. The Cyclones topped the Trojans 77-50.
Aiden Hall and Jacob Birch led the Cyclones with 21-points each, and Bradley Curran knocked down 13. Carter Pellett led the Trojans with 17-points, and Dayton Templeton scored 16.
Harlan Head Coach Mitch Osborn pointed to his ball club’s big first-quarter run, opening up a 17-7 advantage after one-quarter of play.
Harlan junior Aiden Hall proved unstoppable in the first half scoring 15 of his 21 points.
The Trojans responded with a 7-0 run to start the second frame and closed the gap to 24-16, but the home team fired right back and finished the second quarter on an 11-6 run. After three quarters, the Cyclones led 51-36 and finished with the 77-50 victory.
Atlantic Head Coach Derek Hall says the difference in the game was Harlan’s physicality.
The five other players scoring for Harlan were; Franz Reisz with 8, Brayton Schechinger, 5, And Teagon Kasperbauer, Will Arkfeld, and Jace Gubbels three points each.
The five other players scoring for Atlantic were; Colton Rasmussen, 6, Jackson McLaren, 5, Jayden Proehl, 3, Garrett McLaren, 2, and Caden Andersen chipped on one point.
The Cyclones remain undefeated at 11-0 and play #7 rated Platteview, Nebraska at Creighton. Atlantic falls to 3-9 and faces Red Oak at Atlantic on Tuesday night.
