(Des Moines) The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued a special weather statement for strong winds in northern and west-central Iowa, including Carroll and Crawford Counties.
Forecasters say a cool front is sweeping across Iowa today. Behind it are west-northwest winds increasing to 20-30-miles per hour, with gusts over 40-miles per hour at times, for several hours before gradually diminishing. The period of intense and gusty crosswinds may affect high-profile vehicles, particularly on the north-south highways.
