(Guthrie Co.) A Panora man was issued several citations following a single vehicle accident on Sunday.
The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an accident on Sage Trail, north of 190th Street at 6:00 p.m. The Deputy observed a black 2013 Chevy Malibu in the west ditch, facing south. The vehicle sustained severe damage and all airbags had been deployed. The Deputy spoke with Dean Wetzel of Wetzel Repair who advised he had been contacted by 61-year-old Peter Kelloway who requested them to remove a vehicle Kelloway had driven into the ditch. Dean advised he had been contacted by Peter at 4:19 p.m. The tow service said no driver was on scene when they arrived and dispatched advised that no one had contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report the accident.
The Deputy contacted Peter Kelloway, who admitted to driving the vehicle. The Deputy went to Kelloway’s home and found him to be intoxicated. Kelloway advised that he was been traveling south on Sage Trail when he observed a deer in the middle of the road and swerved to miss it and lost control the vehicle. Kelloway said he had one or two drinks before the accident occurred
The Deputy issued Kelloway citations for Failure to Maintain Safety Belts, Failure to Give Notice of Address Change, Failure to Maintain Control, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.
