(Atlantic) The Iowa Finance Authority announced housing trust fund distributions this past week. The Southern Iowa COG Housing Trust fund includes the counties of Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, and Shelby Counties.
Tammy Debord, a Southwest Iowa Planning Council grant specialist, says this is a yearly grant program. The southern Iowa COG Housing Trust Fund Inc. received a $330,335 grant, up from last year. The funding will continue increasing over the next five years gradually. Debord says the funds are used in a variety of different ways.
The funds also go towards a demolition program to help the city tear down dilapidated houses to replace new housing in its’ place, which covers 50-percent of the demolition costs of $15,000.
The remainder of the money goes towards the home repair program.
Debord says there is a waiting list, and to be added to that list, call SWIPCO’s housing department.
