(Red Oak) One person suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Red Oak Wednesday afternoon.
The Red Oak Police Department says the accident occurred at 4:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 34 and N 8th Street. Upon investigation, it was found that a 2017 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, driven by 74-year-old Dennis Hartstack of Clarinda, failed to yield the right-of-way from the stop sign as he headed southbound across Highway 34 and was broadsided by a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 66-year-old Paul Dumler of Red Oak. Both vehicles came to a stop on the south side of the roadway.
Paul Dumler suffered minor injuries, but was not transported to the hospital. Both vehicles suffered disabling damages and had to be towed away from the scene. Dennis Hartstack was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign.
The Red Oak Police Department was assisted by Red Oak Fire & Rescue and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
