(Creston) Two people suffered injuries in a single-vehicle crash in Creston.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 2:05 a.m. on Sunday at North Lincoln and North Mills Street. Authorities identified the two injured people as 34-year old Matthew Ryan Cross of Creston and 25-year old Shawn M. Wesbrook from Litchfield, Illinois.
The State Police say Matthew Cross was driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix at an excessive speed southbound on Lincoln Street north of Mills Street when Cross lost control of the car. The Grand Prix left the road, traveled through a yard, struck a house, and rolled. The vehicle came to rest on its top with Cross and Wesbrook temporarily pinned inside.
Mercy One Helicopter transported Matthew Cross to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Union County EMS transported Wesbrook to the Union County Memorial Hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash, and alcohol appears to be a factor.
