(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council set a public hearing for November 17 for the sale of city-owned real estate.
The Council met this past week, and City Administrator John Lund said a citizen request to purchase 901 Birch Street prompted the public hearing for the property. Atlantic City Administrator John Lund says the prospective buyer intends to start a house flipping business and potentially repair dilapidated vacant homes in Atlantic, which would benefit the city and the community.
There is a laundry list of work to complete. Lund says the interested buyer proposes to pay fair market value and invest a significant amount of money into the property restoration.
*The City Council also approved the Street finance report, an annual report of spending on streets using road use tax funds.
*The City Council approved the yearly urban renewal report dealing with the Cities Tax Increment Financing districts and projects.
*The Council passed the third reading amending the ordinance, erasing the language, stating City Council members approve every volunteer firefighter. The new code indicates the Fire Department is a self-managed organization governed by rules and by-laws regarding membership, with the Fire Chief’s appointment being subject to Council approval.
*The City Council also approved the appointment of Geoff Barrick to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
