The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at around 12:58 p.m. on Wednesday. Authorities say 50-year old Geno Khorava of Palm Coast, Florida suffered injuries in the crash.
According to the report, an eastbound 2019 TT Freightliner driven by Khorava struck an eastbound 2018 Freightliner TT driven by Nicholas Cates of Nampa, Idaho, traveling in the right lane with the hazards on. Khorava attempted to change lanes to avoid striking Cates semi. A third eastbound semi traveling in the left lane adjacent to Khorava left the road and struck a high-tension cable barrier. Subsequently, Khorava struck Cates semi and came to rest in the travel portion of Interstate 80.
Mercy One transported Khorava to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
