Gale Newman, age 59, of Lyman, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 after a hard fought battle with breast cancer. Gale was born on March 28, 1962 and was a lifelong resident of Southwest Iowa. Gale graduated from Griswold High School in 1980 and married her high school sweetheart, David, on October 6, 1984. Gale worked at Hyvee in Atlantic, Iowa for over forty years and truly enjoyed her job and took great joy in helping others and getting to see so many people every day. Gale had never met a stranger and had the ability to make everyone feel like family.
Gale and her family enjoyed traveling, and her favorite place to be was somewhere on a beach. Gale also enjoyed shopping with her daughter and spending time with her grandson, Torin. Gale enjoyed cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and also enjoyed Sunday afternoons spent with her husband on their pontoon boat or taking jeep rides all over the state of Iowa.
Gale is survived by her husband, David; Daughter and Son in Law, Shinelle and Sam Pattavina of Omaha, Nebraska; Grandson, Torin; Sister and Brother in Law; Steve and Nancy Curtis of Atlantic, Iowa; Brother In Law and Sister in Law; Terry and Kim Whiley of Griswold, Iowa; Sister in Law, Kay Cary of Griswold, Iowa; and Father in Law, Dennis Newman of Lyman, Iowa; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gale is preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Thelma Lembke; Brother, Harlan Cary; and Mother in Law, Barbara Newman.
Family Celebration of Life visitation will be held all day on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with the family present from 5 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.
