David Westly Bintz was born on April 18, 1953 in Hancock, Iowa and was the second of four boys born to Herbert and Jervaise (Grap) Bintz. He was baptized at the Minden United Church of Christ and graduated from the Oakland Community School District with the class of 1971.
David was a farmer his whole life. He raised row crop and livestock including chickens, hogs, and cattle, but raising sheep was what he loved to do! He was a proud supporter of 4-H for many years as a showman, club leader, and east and west Pottawattamie County sheep superintendent. David enjoyed his time at the home place working down at the barns with his herd of sheep, working on equipment, or spending time with his dog. He was one to lend a helping hand to neighbors, most of whom he had known his entire life. He enjoyed spending time with his great-nieces, Olivia and Haley. He would often spend the day with them eating at their favorite lunch spot and showing them the baby lambs.
On Thursday, September 23, 2021, David passed away at CHI Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, having attained the age of sixty-eight years, five months and five days. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Eugene. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers Jeffrey (Jody) Bintz of Council Bluffs, Iowa; John (Susan) Bintz of Bloomfield, New Mexico; nephew Joshua (Christy) Bintz of Treynor, Iowa; and great-nieces Olivia and Haley Bintz of Treynor, Iowa.
Graveside Services will be Wednesday, September 29th at 3:00 PM at the Minden Cemetery. The Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca is in charge of arrangements.
