(Council Bluffs) A Council Bluffs K-9 was injured during a search this morning.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says at around 10:10 am, officers and K-9 Rudy were searching an abandoned building for intruders at 500 West Broadway. While searching ahead of his handler on an upper floor, K-9 Rudy went through a door leading to a sloped section of roof during the check. He slipped and fell approximately three stories. Rudy suffered a broken femur and tibia. Due to the severity of his injuries his handler, Officer Colby McCord and Sgt. Ron Albers, transported Rudy to Iowa State University Veterinary Hospital for surgery.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says, “We appreciate the thoughts and will keep the public updated on his condition when more is known.”
