(Audubon) An Audubon teen will be involved in the Governor’s Charity Steer show on Saturday at the Iowa State Fair.
Lane Elmquist, son of Joe and Brittney Elmquist, admits he’s excited to be a part of it. “The guy asked me if I wanted to do it and I thought it sounded like a great opportunity to help out with charity and the Ronald McDonald House.”
The steer is named Nelson and has had a great run so far. “I’m having a great summer with him. We took him to Beef Expo, Austin Alt Memorial Classic, Barn to Backdrop Classic, and County Fair. We won the County Fair so we got to go to the Best of the Southwest Shootout.”
Elmquist is a member of the Leroy Leaders 4-H Club. He’s one of 24 entries in the show which starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Pioneer Livestock Pavilion at the State Fairgrounds on Saturday.
