(Harlan) The Harlan City Council passed the second reading of an ordinance changing the speed limit on the south end of 12th Street, reviewed an ARGP Grant application for the Airport Federal Assistance Program, and acted one appointment and re-appointment at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
The Council approved the second reading amending an ordinance to lower the speed limit on 12th Street from 45-miles per hour to 35-miles per hour. The area affected is around Lake George Park around South 12th Street to the drainage ditch. The amended ordinance must pass one more reading before it is official. The City Council also reviewed the ARGP grant application for the Airport Federal Assistance for $32,000. This is the third type of stimulus money received by the airport. This requires three years to allocate, and the plan is to use the funds for contract salaries and utilities. Combined with the other two grants, the airport has received around &70,000.
