(Mills Co.) The Mills County Sheriff’s Office reports four accidents.
Jo Beck, 65, of Shenandoah, was transported to the Shenandoah Hospital by Malvern Rescue following a car vs deer accident on June 22nd. Beck was driving a 2015 Buick southbound on Highway 59 at around 3:46 a.m. when a deer entered the roadway. The Buick struck the deer. Beck received minor injuries.
On June 18th, Dustin Barrett, 33, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on 315th Street at approximately 9:49 p.m., approaching the intersection of Gaston Avenue. Due to the darkness and being unfamiliar with the road, Barrett did not know he was approaching a T-intersection and was unable to get stopped in time. The motorcycle continued through the intersection and into a corn field. Barrett was checked by rescue but refused treatment. The Harley Davidson was estimated to be a total loss.
Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at approximately 2:48 p.m. on June 22nd at 189th Street and Bunge Avenue. Ryan Nelson, 46, of Underwood, was driving a 2020 Ford and stopped at the stop sign on 189th before turning east onto Bunge Avenue. Nelson stated that the driver of the second vehicle involved, Mathew Meyers, 44, of Council Bluffs, was a long ways away as he started to turn. Nelson said that Meyers came flying up on him, tried to go around on the shoulder, and struck his vehicle. Meyers claimed that Nelson pulled out in front of his 2018 Volkswagen and in an attempt to avoid rear ending Nelson he tried to go around on the shoulder but was unsuccessful and a collision occurred. No injuries were reported.
No injuries were reported in a single vehicle accident at 300th Street and Noyes Avenue at 4:40 p.m. on June 22nd. According the report, Dareld Study, 61, of Thurman, tried to avoid hitting a raccoon and put two drivers’ side tires in the ditch. Study lost control, hit the stop sign to the south of Noyes Avenue and rolled his car on its side in the ditch.
