(Atlantic) Atlantic High School and Iowa State University graduate Jacqui (Becker) Fatka has taken her journalism skills to a high level.
Jacqui, the daughter of Craig and Jane Becker of Atlantic, is the Farm Policy Editor for Farm Progress Companies. Her articles appear on the many policy implications for rural America online and in Wallace’s Farmer and Farm Futures magazines.
Jacqui has a passion for deciphering the sometimes confusing world of agricultural policy. She says her journalism experience started in her high school days at Atlantic.
During her college years, Jacqui worked one summer at the Atlantic News Telegraph and interned with Senator Chuck Grassley, the Iowa Pork Producers, and Wallace’s Farmer, which probably led to today’s job.
Speaking of Ag policy, Jacqui has seen many changes, particularly with the farm program and crop insurance.
Becker-Fatka says over the past twenty years; there’s been a growing focus on conservation funding and the changes in crop insurance, an important piece of the policy pie that protects a farmer’s revenue and guards against some of the unknowns.
Jacqui Fatka is currently the interim executive secretary-treasurer of the North American Agricultural Journalists. Jacqui will be among the high-profile speakers at the 2021 Farm Futures Summit in Iowa City in mid-June.
On Tuesday, Jacqui Fatka will break down the Biden Administrations 30×30 Conservation Plan on KSOM’s Ag Review Segment which airs at 7:40 a.m.
