(Elk Horn) This 41st annual Tivoli Fest, Elk Horn’s annual Danish Festival, will be held this Friday and Saturday.
Lisa Riggs, General Manager of the Danish Windmill, said after having to cancel the 2020 Festival due to the pandemic, organizers decided to make this year’s festival a little more “lite” by keeping traditional elements but cutting out Sunday’s portion of the event. Most activities are enjoyed outdoors so it will be safe for attendees and volunteers through social distancing and wearing masks in indoor settings.
Saturday is a full day of events. To highlight a few, there will be the Opening Ceremonies where they raise the Danish
and American Flags, Mill to Mermaid 5k Fun Run, Viking Enactment, Scandinavian Folk Dancing, Museum of Danish America will have free admission this weekend, there will be an open air street market, the retail shops will be open, a show and shine car show, Tivoli Fest parade, Folk Musicians, the Elk Horn Library will have their LEGO contest and outdoor games and crafts, Polka Police band, Tivoli Follies – a local talent show, Hired Guns Band, the Annual Fireworks and so much more.
Riggs highlights some of the Danish food that will be served throughout the event. The fire station will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
There will be more Danish Food at the Town Hall.
New this year in Kimballton there will be a Gallery of Artisans Exhibit and demonstrations at the West Side New Century Gallery.
