(Atlantic) On Wednesday, the Atlantic School Board approved the resignation of Atlantic Head Basketball Coach and Middle School Social Studies teacher Jeff Ebling. Coach Ebling submitted his resignation last week after accepting the Head Boy’s Varsity Basketball Coaching position at Indianola.
Atlantic Athletic Director Andy Mitchell said Ebling did a great job with the basketball program. He says the team played top-notch basketball this past season and fell one game short of a berth in the state tournament. Ebling was the first coach Mitchell hired when he came aboard as the athletic director in the late spring of 2018.
Mitchell said Coach Ebling met the challenge head-on and established relationships with the students and student-athletes.
Mr. Mitchell says the job is posted, and some interest in the position came in before publishing the position.
Mitchell says the district is looking for a head coach who can develop positive relationships with students and student-athletes. Secondly, they’re searching for a candidate with a strong technical background in the sport of basketball.
The School also approved the release of Jeff Ebling’s wife Erin from her teaching position.
