(Atlantic) Creston shot 371 and won the Class 3A Regional Golf Tournament at Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic on Monday. The Panthers earned a spot in the Class 3A State Golf Tournament, and ADM qualified for the State Meet with a second-place score of 381.
The top two teams qualify for state and along with the top six individuals.
Rylie Driskell of Creston medaled with a 74, Lilly Peterson of Carlisle finished with the runner-up score of 88. Jaya West of Winterset was 3rd, (92); Monica Thomas, ADM, 4th, (92); Emma Mellencamp, 5th, (92); and Maria Groumoutis, 6th, (93).
“Rylie Driscoll has anchored this team the entire year, ” said Creston Head Coach Jon Thomson. “She came in with a 74 and we complimented her with the other scores we had today.”
Besides Driskell’s 74, Maria Groumoutis shot 93, Mikaela Downing, 99, Maya Watkins, 105,
“Maria Groumoutis has always been a solid number two for us, and we’ve seen a lot of progress from our four and five scorers this year,” said Thomson. “Maya first time out and we ended taking her score today, and that’s team aspect we have for Creston golf, and we rally around that.”
Atlantic ended the day in third with a respectable score of 393. Belle Berg led the Trojans with a 94, Roni Hook, 97, Abby Smith, 99, Lexi Noelck, 103, Reagan Leonard, 104, and Abby Muller, 109.
