(Atlantic) The 2021 Atlantic Softball team returns experience and depth to a squad that won the Hawkeye Ten Conference Crown with a 10-0 Conference mark, and 18-2 overall.
Coach Hinzman welcomed forty players to the squad this season. The veteran Coach says there are two gaping holes to fill with the loss of McKenzie Waters and Reagan Pellett. Returning in the circle is first-team all-conference Olivia Engler, and Kennedy Goergen.
All-Conference catcher Alyssa Derby returns along with Kennedy Goergen, all-conference first baseperson, who will play at the position again this season when she is not in the circle. Malena Woodward will rotate around at various spots, along with her role as the designated hitter. Lauren Nicolas will be a second base, Simpson College Middle Infielder, Caroline Pellett at shortstop. Jada Jensen will also figure into the infield as well. All-Conference Centerfielder Maddie Botos will be in the center, and Eva Rush, and Abby Smith in the left and right field.
Coach Hinzmann’s squad will face a quality pitcher out the gate when facing Lenox tonight.
The Trojans travel to Missouri Valley on Wednesday, Denison-Schleswig on Thursday, and are at Ballard on Friday.
