(Des Moines) Jim Lee with the National Weather Service in Des Moines forecasts thunderstorm activity to pick up later today.
Lee says the risk for severe weather is low. “We’ve seen some light showers moving across the state over the last couple of days,” said Lee. “But later in the day, and into this evening, thunderstorms will move into the area from Missouri and Kansas. A few of the storms could be rather strong. The severe is rather low, but we could still see some isolated severe weather.”
Lee says locally heavy rainfall is possible with some of the passing storms.
