(Anita) On Friday the CAM boys golf team will be among those competing for a spot in the Class 1A state tournament. The top two teams advance. If a host school is in the top two then a third team will also qualify.
The Cougars qualified for the district round with a great performance at sectionals last week in Dunlap. CAM shot a 353 on Friday. Logan Lawrence led the team with an 86, Peyton Jessen shot 88, Ethan Arp 89, Wyatt Gettler 90, Gavyn Jessen 91, and Carson Cary 105.
Here’s head coach Joe Wollum:
And they have the luxury of playing at home. Crestwood Hills will be the course. Other teams in the field are Kingsley-Pierson, Westwood, St. Albert, Bedford, Wayne, Fremont-Mills, and Sidney. Westwood and St. Albert have the two lowest 18-hole adjusted averages at 361 and and 362, respectively.
Individuals that aren’t competing on a team include Philip Franks (Essex/Stanton), Owen Wilkinson (SW Valley), Matthew Weber (Nodaway Valley), Kaden Herr (Nodaway Valley), Owen Collison (West Monona), Cory Bantam (Woodbine), Jacob Fetter (Logan-Magnolia), Clay Roberts (Boyer Valley), and Trey Petersen (Exira-EHK). The top two individuals (and ties) not on a qualifying team at Friday’s tournament will make it to state.
