(Atlantic) Atlantic Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen told the Parks and Recreation Board Monday night that as of about a month ago the Street Department has taken over the campground.
Rasmussen said they are still maintaining the bathrooms, mowing and trimming, but the Street Department will take over the responsibilities such as checking the pay posts. Board Member John Krogman said he wrote a very long letter stating his displeasure in the change.
City Council Liaison Gerald Brink asked Rasmussen if it was a relief to not have to deal with some of the campground stuff.
Rasmussen said he has been forwarding those calls to the correct people.
In other news, Rasmussen said they are working on getting the pool opened up. He said they found a decent size hole that appeared over the winter that had to be patched up, but the pool is being filled now.
Rasmussen said they are also working to find a couple of managers to fill the position that Chelsie Huddleson
previously had. Chelsie Huddleson was the Aquatics Director at the YMCA and the City had a memorandum of understanding with the Y to share her position. Rassmussen will be having further discussions with the Y to see what happens next. Meanwhile, Rasmussen said he and Foreman Kyle Welter are both certified pool operators and so they can help out during the transition period if needed.
