(Page Co.) The Page County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a Page County Dump truck accident Tuesday morning near the intersection of 130th and N Avenue, approximately 9 miles northwest of Clarinda.
The investigation showed that 59-year-old Ricky Alan Auten, of rural Clarinda, was employed by Page County Secondary Roads at the time of the accident. Auten was the driver and only occupant of a 2016 international 7000 Series dump truck owned by Page County. Auten was turning west on 130th from N Avenue. At the intersection of 130th and N Avenue Auten had the dump box of the dump truck partially raised and had just began to spread the approximately 17 tons of road rock from the intersection to the west on 130th Street. As Auten rounded the left hand corner, the load shifted in the dump truck and the dump truck rolled onto the passenger side. Auten exited the cab from the driver’s side window, once the truck came to rest in the travelled portion of the road. Auten was not injured.
Damage to Page Counties Dump Truck is estimated at over $50,000. No charges have been issued at this time.
