(Des Moines) Iowa District #3 Representative Cindy Axne announced $369,536,572 in federal investments to help Iowa child care providers open safely, keep workers on the payroll and lower costs for hardworking families.
The Congresswoman says she voted for the American Rescue Plan to deliver this robust investment to help Iowa’s child care providers and to help lower costs for families.
The funding comes as part of two programs Rep. Axne helped create through her vote for the American Rescue Plan: $227,550,820 from the child care stabilization fund for grants to help child care providers to reopen or stay open, provide safe and healthy learning environments, keep workers on payroll, and provide mental health supports for educators and children, and;$141,985,752 in more flexible funding for Iowa to make child care more affordable for more families, increase access to high-quality care for families receiving subsidies, increase compensation for early childhood workers, and meet other care needs in the state.
The funding will go to the State of Iowa, which will allocate it to specific providers and families.
