(Audubon) The T-bone Trail Western Iowa is a modern-day expedition into western Iowa, and it will be one of the beefiest missions of the year.
Sarah Slater with Audubon County Economic Development says JayJay, the Iowa Gallivant, is ready to take this on. The blogger from Iowa City is touring Western Iowa from May through August, showcasing some of the region’s greatest communities. Slater says JayJay will be on the trail to find the best steaks in each county of western Iowa, spend one day visiting all of the tourism spots, and highlight the beef industry and its impact on the region. “We’re excited and ask people to follow along on Facebook, there will be video, and posts of where he is going,” said Slater.
The Gallivant’s love for traveling, food, and family drives his blog.
“He’s been all over Iowa, and we’ve worked with him in the past, and has shown a lot of support for this region,” said Slater. “He toured eastern Iowa searching for the best bratwurst. I suggested he come to western Iowa and search for the best steak, and it’s grown into this with almost every county taking part.”
Slater says the goal is to attract people to visit the 36 counties in western Iowa. “The goal is to get tourists and visitors to our area,” said Slater. “Restaurants and the beef industry had a brought year because of COVID. The goal is to get people here to see what’s going on.”
Slater says people can follow along on Facebook, “T-Bone Trail Western Iowa.” JayJay will arrive in most counties at around 10:00 a.m., starting with Cass County on May 7 and Audubon County on May 8, and complete the journey on August 13 in Guthrie County. During his trip, community leaders will highlight some of the areas of famous restaurants, landmarks, and locals that make the region shine, including some of the best cattle producers in the world.
