(Atlantic) Drey Newell and Braden Smith led Atlantic to a 160-185 win over Denison-Schleswig in a boy’s golf dual at Nishna Hills Golf Course in Atlantic on Monday.
Newell medaled with a 37, and Smith finished as runner-up medalist with a 38. Garrett McLaren scored a 41, and Lane Nelson fired a 44. Cruz Weaver finished the round with a 48, and Roth Den Beste and Cooper Jipsen carded 49’s.
“We knew it was going to be cold; however, our guys wanted to play, and they played their best round of the year,” said Atlantic Head Coach Ed Den Beste. “It’s great to see Drey medal with a 37. His best score this year. Braden was right there as well with the 38 and runner-up medalist. Garrett had trouble on the hole- number 5, and still scored in the low 40s. Lane had some struggles at times but kept it below 45. Cruz, Roth, and Cooper had a few shots that didn’t go their way but great to see all of them below 50.”
