(Oakland) Two competitions are in the books for the Riverside golfers and coach Mitch Rice has seen some positives from the team.
The girls and boys golfers have competed against IKM-Manning and Underwood thus far with a dual at Missouri Valley on tap for Thursday. “Our young kids are starting to find their way. We have three freshmen rounding out our varsity. If they can do that it will help us a lot.”
The girls squad is in a similar position without a lot of veterans. “Very young. Going into our first meet we had one kid that had played in a varsity meet before. She did a pretty good job, McKenna Sick, she’s in the number two spot and freshman Addison Brink is playing very well. She was runner-up the other night and she’s doing a good job. Then our other two girls have continued to improve and get better. I’m excited to see what the future brings.”
Rice looks for scores to come down as the year progresses. “On the boys side for sure. Ethan Reicks will continue to grow and lead. We were fortunate we got Wyatt Hough back from a football injury and it’s good to have him back. Garrett Hough has played very nice for us the first two meets.”
Rice says Dalton Smith and Kaiden Pleas have already started to see their scores drop. Thursday’s competition at Missouri Valley tees at 4:00.
