(Atlantic) Atlantic Head Boys Soccer Coach Matt Smith welcomed 22-prospects to pre-season workouts last week. The roster consists of 10 seniors, eight juniors, one sophomore, and three freshmen.
The Trojans have a handful of experienced players returning from two-years ago. “Two-year starter and senior Striker Beau Dickerson returns for us. We’re probably moving him to center-mid,” said Smith. “Keaton Juhl will move from offense to defense, and Devin McKay, Jayden Fuller, and Keagan Garcia have logged a lot of time.’
Devlyne Sunderman and Devin Wood return along with Tristan Mathisen and Lee Houser. “We’re learning on the fly and having fun with it,” said Smith.
The three freshmen on the roster are Taye Jordan, Kyler Edie, and Tyrell Williams. “These players are battling for some varsity time, and Williams appears to be the front runner to guard the net,” said Smith. “There has never been a freshmen goalie start for Atlantic in the history of the program. He’s athletic and comes from an athletic family. He says he absolutely loves the position, and that’s what I want to hear.”
The Trojans open up the season at Carroll on April 2.
